What is this?

Back in 2019, I quit my job as a Software Engineer and thru-hiked the Appalachian Trail. It seemed like a smart idea to write stuff down in a journal of some kind, so that I could keep track of where I have been and what I have seen.

I put together this site as a way of keeping that daily log, as well as allowing anybody who was interested to follow along. Originally, this was a simple wordpress site, but after I stopped making active contributions to it everything was migrated over to static pages to make it easier and cheaper to host.

Most of the updates are fairly spartan and limited to the facts. Each daily update is also geo-tagged at the location I ended the day (and wrote the post). Head on over to the map page to see all of the posts along a map of the AT. There are some extra layers in there too with more information and points of interest.

A handful of posts have images attached, but all of the photos I’ve taken can be viewed on the image gallery.

Thanks for taking the time to read this. Please forgive any spelling or grammar errors you might encounter. Almost every post was written on my phone while lying down in my tent exhausted at the end of the day, trying to stay awake.
